Rock the Retro at Work
As 2016 ended, we shelved cold-shoulder tops and asymmetric-hem blouses, pushed the wedges and flatforms back into the attic, and sifted through our wardrobe for fashion trends that were still going strong. From ruffle sleeves to bell-bottoms and sling back mules to loafers, Red Polka puts together a list of retro-inspired looks that are splashed all over the fashion magazines of 2017.
1) Voluminous sleeves
Puffed out and ruffled sleeves are totally in, whether they are bell, fluted, or trumpet. Try them on an elegant maxi dress, or a peasant top - the effect is always understated and elegant.
2) Loose pants and flowing dresses
With palazzos and bell-bottoms still on most people’s style list, the anti-fit pants make a comeback this season, as do the regular straight pants. Style them with formal shirts for an effortlessly casual look, or with fitted blouses for a stunning OOTN. Maxi dresses and high-low skirts can be a game-changer in the fashion space, giving even simple dresses fairy-like feels.
